The new US government budget does not include the cost of purchasing HoloLens mixed reality glasses. A request to buy 6900 headsets worth $400 million was rejected by Congress.
The legislature decided to allocate $40 million to correct flaws in an existing headset. As previously reported, testing new Microsoft Hololens augmented reality glasses in the field showed poor health among American soldiers. Among the symptoms of deterioration of health, headache, visual tension and nausea are noted. At the same time, more than 80% of the military, who felt discomfort from glasses, began to complain about health less than three hours after their use.
Most likely, this led to the rejection of the HoloLens purchase request. The 40 million available in the budget will be directed to the development of software and a new form factor with a comfortable interface.
