Scientists using a neural network investigated 1300 manuscripts of unknown authors stored in the National Library of Spain. Among them was the manuscript of the play “French Laura”, the author of which artificial intelligence recognized Lope de Vega.

The library reports that the play was created in 1635, a few years before the death of Lope de Vega. This manuscript is a copy of the original play.

The group of researchers included scientists from the universities of Vienna and Valladolid. During the study, a neural network was used, which had previously been trained using a large corpus of works of literature. In the control archive there were 350 plays. It is noted that in the play “French Laura” grammatical constructions are used, corresponding to the works of the late period of authorship by Lope de Vega.

The main character Laura is the daughter of the Duke of Brittany and the wife of Count Arnaldo. She is courted by the heir to the French throne, but she ignores him. Instead, a jealous man wants revenge and tries to poison her.

The work is being prepared for publication in the publishing house Gredos. The language of the text is Spanish.

Earlier, we talked about the presentation of the MusicLM neural network from Google, which generates musical compositions at the request of users. It is based on media libraries and audio files with a total timing of 280 thousand hours.
