Twitter’s head office will currently operate an Indian unit from its headquarters in Bangalore. The staff of the unit remaining in India consists of almost one engineer. At the end of last year, the head of the company held a massive reduction there. 200 full-time employees were laid off, which exceeds 90% of the unit’s size.

Instead, as the publication notes, Twitter remains an important social platform for India. It is here that the most important political discussions are held. For example, Indian Prime Minister Narendru Modi has 86.5 million followers here.

India is also one of the leading growth markets for U.S. tech giants, with Google and Meta actively investing in.
