According to the 9to5Google portal, Google has already rolled out new “Memory Saving” and “Power Saving Mode” features in the Chrome browser. They have been tested since December 2022.

One of them, “Memory Saving”, is designed to automatically free up RAM from tabs that work in the background. These tabs remain visible in the list, but not active, and are reloaded when you re-access them.

The second, “Energy Saving Mode,” is designed to reduce energy costs by limiting background activity and visual effects in the browser, including animations, smooth scrolling, and frame rates in the video.

Both features are already available for Chrome browser users and are activated automatically.

Recall that additional protection appeared in incognito mode in the Google Chrome browser on devices running Android OS.
