Developers from Rovio Entertainment have announced that the original Angry Birds game, which was released in 2009 and reissued as Rovio Classics: Angry Birds, has been removed from the Google Play store from February 23.

The company announced this on its Twitter page.

However, the game will remain available on the Apple App Store under a new name — Red’s First Flight. Although the game will continue to run on Android devices, if it was downloaded before February 23, it will not be possible to download or update it after that date.

Rovio Entertainment hopes players will find themselves other games in their collection, such as Angry Birds 2, Angry Birds Friends, and Angry Birds Journey.

Earlier, we reported that Apple announced its intention to start bulk removal of applications from its app store.
