Huge Chinese port cranes located in US ports can be used by China as an intelligence tool. The Pentagon is seriously concerned about this, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Citing sources in the Pentagon and national security agencies, the publication notes that cranes from the Chinese manufacturer ZPMC can be a real Trojan horse.

According to the WSJ interlocutors, port cranes are equipped with sophisticated sensors capable of tracking the origin and destination of containers entering the United States or leaving the country. Some of the ports in which Chinese cranes are located are used by the Pentagon to transport military cargo.

The Chinese Embassy has already responded to the accusations, where they see it as paranoia. Chinese diplomats say such accusations harm trade and economic cooperation between the countries.
