Tesla has announced the construction of a plant where electric cars will be assembled. It will be located in an industrial region in northeastern Mexico.

The plant will be located in the city of Monterrey, the capital of Nuevo León. According to insiders hidden in the company’s plans, so far the final details are being agreed. Representatives of the company, the state government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico took part in the negotiations.

The plant is set to be the first for Tesla, located south of the American border.

It is currently unknown which models the company will produce in Mexico. The start date of production also remains in question.

The publication notes that Nuevo León also houses the factories of General Motors and Kia Motors.

Earlier it became known that Ford is switching to the production of electric vehicles.
