NASA Perseverance rover managed to get the first ever recording of the sound of the Martian “dust devil”. We are talking about a dust storm raging on the surface of the Red Planet, Space.com reports .

The recording was made on September 27, 2021, but the results of the study were published in Nature Communications only this week. The cameras of the rover also recorded the dust storm itself in the photo. Previously, the rover has already photographed “dust devils”, but has never recorded “sound effects” before.

The landing site of the rover, Perseverance, the Jezero crater, is located next to one of the bands of large seasonal dust storms, experts say.

Earlier, NASA announced its intention to send an expedition to Mars by the end of the 2030s.
