American tech company Seagate provides some of its corporate clients with hard drives with a record capacity of more than 30 TB. The campaign is part of the testing of so-called qualification samples. If they work without failures in the near future, the company recognizes the disks as sold and will include the proceeds from their sales in the quarterly report.

It is reported by Tom’s Hardware.

According to the publication, the upgraded disks will be supplied as part of complexes for corporate data centers. Their huge capacity is achieved thanks to the implementation of thermomagnetic data recording technology.

There is no information on the timing of the appearance of ultra-high capacity disks in the consumer market. It is only known that Seagate plans to increase their production in 2024, with the second generation of new data recording technology.

Recall that in the archive of the library of disappearing sounds Obsolete Sounds presents the sound of an old hard drive Seagate.
