The iPhone maker has won a lawsuit by American video game developer Epic Games against Apple launched in 2020. The verdict of the trial court in favor of Apple confirmed the decision of the Court of Appeals for the ninth circuit of the United States, according to Bloomberg.

The reason for the lawsuit against Apple by Epic Games was the removal of the game Fortnite from the App Store. The video game developer accused Apple of violating a federal antitrust law. This happened against the background of the introduction of Epic Games alternative payment method for in-game purchases, which made it impossible to have a 30% commission in favor of Apple.

The trial court upheld Apple in 9 out of 10 counts. Currently, Epic Games has been awarded damages in favor of Apple for violating App Store rules and paying legal fees. The video game developer intends to appeal this decision.
