To clear your Signal chat list without deleting messages, you can use the archiving feature.

Archive & count chat on Android

  1. Open Signal to view your chat list.
  2. Tap on a chat and swipe right or tap, hold and select the “Archive” menu item.
  3. To view archived chats, scroll to the bottom of the list of chats and tap on the item “Archived conversations”.
  4. To unzip a chat, scroll through the list of chats and find “Archived conversations”. Tap a chat, swipe right. Or tap, hold and select “Unzip” from the menu.

Archive & count chat on iOS

  1. Open Signal to view your chat list.
  2. Tap a conversation, swipe left slowly, and then tap Archive.
  3. To see the list of archived chats, scroll down the list of chats and select the “Archived” option.
  4. To unzip, scroll down the list of chats, select Archived Chats, select the one you want, slowly swipe left, and then select Unzip.

Archive & count chat on Desktop

  1. Select the desired chat, click on the menu item “Chat settings” and select the option “Archive”.
  2. To view an archived chat, select “Signal Settings” and then “View Archive”.
  3. To unzip a chat, go to “Signal Settings”, select “View archive”, then the desired chat.
  4. Click on “Chat settings” and select “Unzip”.
