Samsung took first place in the Western European market. In addition, it plans to increase its share by “luring” iPhone users, reports 9to5mac, citing the results of a Canalys study.

Canalys analysts claim that Samsung overtook Apple, capturing 35% of the smartphone market in Western Europe in the first quarter 2023 year. Apple’s share was 33%, and in third place was Xiaomi with 15%.

Analysts note that the South Korean company plans to further strengthen its position in the market, in particular, copying Apple’s strategy to fill the market with new smartphones of the middle and high segments.

At the same time, experts note that the Western European smartphone market is suffering from a contraction due to the general economic recession. Canalys claims that smartphone shipments fell by 13% in the first quarter of this year.

Earlier, the South Korean manufacturer Samsung stressed that it intends to demonstrate its own analogue of the chatbot ChatGPT in October this year.
