YouTube CEO Neil Mohan revealed that the platform is testing a new AI-powered tool in YouTube Studio that suggests themes for videos, making the brainstorming process easier for content creators.

The AI Insights tool will generate insights based on data on what the audience is already watching, Mohan explained.

He cited the example of Makhnu Gafori, a travel content creator, saying that her viewers are most interested in getting travel ideas. The AI tool suggests a video idea about Portugal’s history and recommends places in the region that it could show viewers.

“The process of developing an idea for a video is time-consuming, and it can look questionable until the video is published and comments start popping up,” Mohan said. “This understanding is just the impetus for the process of creating. Now Makhna has the opportunity to think about how she will make a video in her own style.”

This feature is currently being tested with select content creators. According to YouTube, during initial testing, more than 70% of those surveyed said that AI Insights helped them come up with video ideas.

The new tool is set to launch in YouTube Studio next year.
