A new AI tool that predicts viral mutations could guide the treatment of COVID-19 and even the next pandemic.

EVEscape was developed at Harvard Medical School and the University of Oxford. During testing, he accurately predicted the most frequent variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that emerged during the pandemic.

EVEscape’s predictions have proven to be more accurate than experimental approaches, as well as faster and more efficient than lab tests. The tool has also successfully identified treatments that would combat these mutations.

In the future, the researchers predict that EVEscape will inform about the plan to create a vaccine. This gives hope for a new effective treatment: vaccines that fight different mutations of viruses.
