On Instagram, you will have the option to turn off the “Viewed” feature, which is seen by the person you are chatting with.

“We’ve listened to the feedback and started testing a new feature that allows you to turn off message read receipts. Soon, people will be able to choose when to let others see that they have read their messages,” wrote Instagram chairman Adam Mosseri.

He posted a screenshot of the privacy and security menu for messages. You can access this menu by tapping on the profile name below the chat. If users are taking part in a test, they’ll see a toggle to turn off read receipts under “Who can see your activity.” Meta has not indicated when this feature will be available to all users.

In 2014, Instagram’s WhatsApp app launched a similar feature and allowed its users to turn off such notifications.

Recall that the “friend with artificial intelligence” function may appear on Instagram.
